Full Description
Experience the heart-pumping action of Pine Creek with huge hits, difficult maneuvers and thundering drops through raging Class IV – V rapids.
Pine Creek contains the most challenging white water on the Arkansas River. Narrow, fast and technical, the river drops nearly 200 feet over its steepest mile of raging rapids. Rafting through the pulsing and complex Granite Gorge requires expertise maneuvering which is why our Pine Creek guides are the most experienced and knowledgeable guides on the river. If you're interested in Pine Creek, we recommend you consider the full day option. Tackle the heart pumping Class IV-V Pine Creek section in the morning, enjoy our "Ultimate Fajita Buffet" lunch served riverside, and then finish off your day with the soaking splashes and continuous Class IV action of the Numbers. Previous rafting experience is highly recommended for the hard paddling you will do over 7 to 14 miles on the river. Good physical condition and strong swimming abilities are required. Our minimum age for Pine Creek is 16.
Includes:
- Transportation to and from the Arkansas River from our office in Buena Vista
- Helmet, life jacket and paddle
- Our "Ultimate Fajita Buffet" lunch is included with our 3/4 and Full day trips
Excludes:
- Wetsuits, neoprene booties and splash jackets (available for rent)
Day by Day Itinerary
1/2, 3/4 and Full Day Itinerary
Our Pine Creek trips meet at our main location if Buena Vista unless transportation is needed from Breckenridge or Frisco. After you check in with the office, sign your waivers and settle any financial business that you may have, we will send you out to our boathouse to get started. At the boathouse you'll be greeted by our experienced guides who will outfit you with a life jacket, helmet and wetsuits, booties and splash jackets if you decided to rent them for the day. Changing tents are on sight for you to get into your rafting gear. After you have made the transformation into a "rafter", locked all of your personal belongings in your car and left your car keys with the office, you are ready to load onto the bus or van that will be driving you to the put in. At the put in, you will be given a Safety Talk to learn all about different situations on the river. Now you are ready to learn how to paddle. You will be separated into rafts and your guide will teach you his or her paddle commands and give you some time to practice on land before you hit the water. Once you're floating, you'll have a little more time to get your paddle strokes perfected before you get to the first rapid. Those of you who are on our Full Day Trip will enjoy our "Ultimate Fajita Buffet" lunch served on the river. (For our 3/4 Day Trips, lunch is served at our scenic picnic area back at our shop.) Our dependable drivers will be waiting for you at the take out to haul you back to the main shop where your dry clothes await. Once you are back in your own attire, we invite you back into our store/office to check out the high quality digital pictures that were taken on your trip. You will have the opportunity to purchase these pictures and other rafting souvenirs before heading out to your next adventure
